Connecting Activities is an initiative of the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in partnership with the Metro North REB and six local high schools. Operating in the communities of Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, and Woburn, Connecting Activities provides youth with structured, part-time job opportunities. Through this program, every employment opportunity is designed to provide optimal work-based learning experiences, with the goal of enhancing students’ academic performance and employability.
The program provides additional opportunities for both youth and employers, including career fairs, job shadowing at local business and community sites, and individualized career and job counseling. By working closely with in-house job coaches at each of the six high schools, careers specialists at the Metro North career centers are able to provide comprehensive support for all youth participants.
