Business Description

AECOM is a global provider of professional technical and management support services to a broad range of markets, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government.

STEM Partnership Summary

In partnership with the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, AECOM offers a wide range of STEM education opportunities. AECOM is also a primary sponsor of many programs and events across the state.

AECOM’s wide-ranging STEM efforts include:

  • Offering internship and coop opportunities for high school and postsecondary students.

  • Hosting “ACE”, a mentoring program for high school students. This program facilitates connections between engineers from the fields of architecture, construction and engineering in an effort to expand high school students' career and industry knowledge

  • Supporting Future City Competition, targeting grades 6-8.  Sponsored by National Engineers Week, this national program introduces students to engineering with the popular SimCity 4 Deluxe™ software. Students design a future city, build scale models, write essays and give oral reports on their city's design. http://www.futurecity.org/

  • Providing tours of their offices and construction sites.

  • Supporting AECOM employees in volunteering for school presentations or career fairs.

  • Establishing AECOM's own chapter of Engineers Without Borders: AECOM employees travel to other countries to work on critical projects such as irrigation systems, or the building of schools or bridges.

  • Providing opportunities and incentives for employees' ongoing professional development

  • Sponsoring THINKFEST, an annual event offering fun and engaging STEM activities for students of all grade levels.  One of the highlights of the event is the chance for a student to win a $100,000 scholarship to Merrimack College. http://www.engineeryourfuture.org/thinkfest.htm
